Passports

The British Embassy in Minsk does not process passports, but can accept applications. All applications are sent to the British Embassy in Moscow for processing. You are advised to apply at least two months before your passport is due to expire. You will be allowed to retain your old passport while waiting for the replacement to be processed and returned. Please note that only biometric passports can now be issued.

Alternatively, you may also apply to the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) in person whilst visiting the UK. In order to do this, you need to make an appointment with IPS in the UK and you must provide an address in the UK to which the passport may be posted. Applicants will have to be available at this address to sign for the receipt of the passport.  Please note that IPS do not accept applications by post or e-mail if you live abroad.

In an emergency the British Embassy in Minsk can issue an Emergency Passport valid for a single journey back to the UK using agreed transit points as necessary, or to Commonwealth countries providing a prior arrangement exists with the authorities of the Commonwealth country concerned.
